Future Collect

April 2024

Maria Amidu is the third and final artist selected for Future Collect, iniva’s groundbreaking, national partnership programme designed to create a dynamic new model to transform the culture of commissioning and collecting within museums. The artist developed her project between 2022-2024 creating 26,778,780 minutes for her solo exhibition in the perpetual back and forth at Towner Eastbourne (4 May - 8 September 2024).

The film features Maria Amidu alongside first and second Future Collect artists Jade de Montserrat and Emii Alrai, the Future Collect Curatorial Trainees: Hollie Douglas, Nikita Gill and Amber Li, and the partner gallery curators: Sara Cooper at Towner Eastbourne, Natasha Howes at Manchester Art Gallery and Eleanor Clayton at The Hepworth Wakefield discussing the commissioned works, the galleries’ existing collections, and how Future Collect has impacted artistic, curatorial and collecting practices.

Future Collect has been generously funded by Arts Council England, Art Fund, and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
