in the perpetual back and forth, publication

in the perpetual back and forth is an accompaniment to Maria Amidu’s exhibition at Towner Eastbourne (4 May to 8 September 2024).

There are three main elements to the publication: an essay by Gilane Tawadros, Founding Director, iniva and Director, Whitechapel Gallery, a transcript of Maria’s exchange with Hollie Douglas, Future Collect Curatorial Trainee, and milk teeth, mother tongue - new writing which alludes to themes in the artist’s Future Collect Commission piece 26,778,780 minutes. The publication is contextualised with photographs taken during the installation of the exhibition.
